LONG JOURNEY INTO THE NIGHT

I've told before how I chose my human pet, right?
So now, I'll tell you about my first night at home, my human pet's home anyway. It was quite an eventful night, I tell you.

She was supposed to pick me up on a Saturday morning but she was so excited to have me around that she decided to get me earlier, Friday evening, after hours.

She had made the essential arrangements to make me comfortable but for one special detail; I'll get there in time.

You know, I was very, very young, about 6 weeks old and I was tiny, the smallest puppy compared to my brothers and sisters.

We got home in the dark of the night and she had decided then that I would make my quarters at the laundry area only. Well, she didn't know much about puppies at the time...

She made me a nice and warm bed, left a water bow but the place was cold with the ceramic tiles and very, very different from anywhere where I've been before considering that I have not been to many places then...

It was night time, I missed my puppy friends, there was no one to cuddle with so I whinned and cried and wandered around that strange place all night long, trying to find a place where I would feel cozy.

There was indeed one spot that was enclosed and hotter but I found kind of stucked in there so I cried and cried again until Celina would come to check on me one more time.

I could not understand why she was so angry with me; she kept saying words like: - how did you get under the freezer, silly????

(Silly? But I thought you have named me Cuca! You're getting me all confused!)

It was a very small place and I had quite a lot of trouble going in and "C." was upset that she could not take me out of there without hurting me. She tried and tried to have her hand under the so called "freezer" thing and looks like that she got hurt with the heat of it but in the end she was able to rescue me and I was SO glad!

But again she insisted on living me alone on that foreign, dark and full of weird smells place and as soon as she disappeared again, I wandered around.

Well, it's not my fault that I would end under of that "freezer" hotter thing again! I cried louder and that made Celina come to the rescue again.

She seemed more upset this time and her face was kind of tiresome...

That went on through the night. She would live me alone and I would whine for a while. She would give up and show up again and make me some company but then she would disappear again.... Where did she go? Why did she left me here all by myself?

Then, when there was some light outside , Celina took longer to come back ( I suppose she dozed off ) and I went on checking the area when I found a hole on the laundry wall.

My human pet was aware that that hole was dangerous for me so she had scheduled someone to come that Saturday morning to close it but I found it earlier.

I don't know how long I cried and cried after I found that hole in the wall. All I know is that when Celina finally came to check on me, I had my four paws inside the hole, facing down the streetwalk from the 11th floor!

On my back I sensed fear on "Celina's voice but she gently picked me up and held me tightly in her arms for many, many "forevers" ! She was almost crying herself and I had my heart beating like crazy!
I heard words coming from her like: - this is the gas leaking safety hole, for the heating, it's supposed to be closed later today!

Wow, that was some first night for both of us! Oh, what a night!

But don't worry, that scary hole is now tightly closed and nobody is going to fall down anymore!

For a while, Celina still insisted that I would be confined to the laundry area but she came to senses later and now we share the all appartment, including the big, warm bed.

About that I'll be telling you on a next post!

Oufs to you!
